The Work

I have extensive training in several mind-body modalities, including integrative somatic therapies. I combine 38 years of experience in the healing arts, along with being an addiction specialist. This diverse background allows me to tailor your sessions to your needs. Please read on for a brief description of some of the modalities I utilize in sessions.

In keeping in line with COVID protocol for the State of California, I am currently working remotely with clients online via Zoom. I am still able to offer most modalities online including Nervous System Regulation Techniques and PNE sessions without Points Holding. Please contact me if you have questions.

Zen Bodies, Resilient Minds

This is an experiential and unique practice that facilitates processes that bring students to a deeper level of present-moment awareness, while enhancing vitality and productivity in all areas of life. The Zen Bodies, Resilient Minds technique grounds and regulates the nervous system, while embodying spiritual principals. Clients learn embodied-meditation, mindfulness disciplines, practices for focus and self-regulation, grounding and centering techniques, resiliency and confidence-building processes.

This class is customized for individuals as well as groups. The Zen Bodies, Resilient Minds technique is conducive for in-person as well as Telehealth sessions.

PsychoNeuroEnergetics

PsychoNeuroEnergetics (PNE) is a somatic-based wellness therapy that holistically integrates the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels of the human organism.  PNE was developed by Judith Johnson, an innovator in body-focused healing therapies.

A PNE session generally involves realigning the nervous system by gently manipulating pressure points on the body closely connected to the Vagus Nerve. A PNE practitioner facilitates this neurological release and re-patterning as it relates to traumatic physical and emotional memories that are subconsciously stored in the body. This allows for integration of body, mind, and emotions, creating a more vital sense of life and action.

Our nervous system responds to threats to our physical and emotional wellbeing in automatic ways that are often appropriate to an immediate situation. Such responses may save our lives. But if a trauma-response is not properly concluded and cycled through to a renewed synthesis of body, mind, and soul, lasting scars and lifelong patterns of nervous system dis-regulation can follow. These patterns are inevitably harmful to our long-term wellbeing and our overall capacity to feel alive and enjoy life.

A PNE session works with the limbic brain (responsible for emotion and memory) and works with the body in order to locate and release blockages to the body’s natural healing energies. Such blockages cause distress and suboptimum healing. Just like a river clogged with debris, the body’s natural healing energies can become blocked by long-ago traumas that impede the body’s natural rejuvenation. Once these blockages are removed, the body, like a previously damned-up river, can return to a more dynamic, natural and vibrant flow of nature’s vital and restorative energies. PNE helps to facilitate this process.

Points Holding Process

Catalina Ureta is the founder of the Somatic Institute and developed the Points Holding Process (PHP). PHP gently guides the client towards interoception (awareness of the body and sensations that compromise our inner world.) PHP is a wonderful resource that can help a client identify and release unprocessed emotions and sensations in the body. These unprocessed emotions and sensations can lead to a variety of difficulties if not expressed, including chronic stress, disruptive behaviors, and physical sickness.

Nervous System Regulation via Stanley Rosenberg and Thor Philipsen

In addition to PNE, physical nervous system regulation techniques can create and bolster resilience in the body. If our body and nervous system are chronically activated in the stress response, or stuck in shutdown, it can lead to fatigue, chronic pain, trouble sleeping and more.

Stanley Rosenberg has developed exercises and hands on techniques to help access the Vagus Nerve. When we activate the Vagus, we can coax our bodies into a parasympathetic response (rest/digest/renew) and release restrictions/tension in the body. The techniques include holding pressure points, eye movements, gentle rocking and other subtle movements.

Thor Philipsen is an osteopath who has studied with Stanley Rosenberg for almost 20 years. Dale has studied with both Stanley and Thor to refine her skills and learn these powerful techniques to create lasting change in her clients.
